  helen keeler (1880 to 1968) was a wolf in sheep's clothing, no hero.

  Advice will be coming soon from people who know better. My personal opinion. Run! The religion is the first problem. The second and biggest problem is the guy. He is in a JW family and he doesn't have the guts to go against it. I am not sure what's worse a devout JW or a nominal JW who wants to quit but doesn't have the guts to do so. Either way: Run!

  Hearing about Satan since birth, a brain that is at the brink of madness, and then discouragement from seeking help from worldly professionals was the perfect recipe for this tragedy.

  Assuming that Fernanda was in a devout JW household, then good part of the blame goes to the Watchtower teachers.

  mr penton, the author, says he has included jws attempt to deal with 1914 and their new light on the governing body being faithful and discreet slave in this new edition.

  Most places in the bookfinder.com want $60 dollars or more. I only found two places under 30.00. Not a great deal for a used book, but I had waited too long. I am now waiting for its arrival.

  If I want objective and scholarly writing, Penton is my favorite author. My only issue is that the price of his other book dealing with JW's in Germany is still very expensive (around $45.00). I found a copy in the library, but it's only for consultation.

  What went wrong in your congregation?

  the target is converts.. why does it seem such an outrageous aim for a congregation to recruit new converts?.

  in my old congregation, the enthusiasm was there but the knocking on doors produced zero " baptisms" in my final years.. a) why so little interests?.

  b) was it the internet ?.

  Welcome Silvia,

  You make a great point. I have been in your shoes many, many times, even in my own house while hosting 20 or 30 JW's. It didn't bother me much, until I discovered that the leaders are full of it and they know it. Not only that, they are willing to use their BS to manipulate, control, enslave, and ultimately ruin many a life.
  

  The internet is their biggest problem. Another problem is the training that JW's get. It's mechanical, staged, no passion, no conviction, no zeal. I don't blame them, too much BS and cult tactics prevent the production of great preachers.

  he was the school overseer but they relieved him of that to allow younger elders the privilege of the job.

  now he is depressed and actually shed tears, believing his worth has diminished.

  My two cents,

  In the organization or outside of the organization, our abilities diminish as we age. Even if our skills remain sharp, we should allow younger ones to take positions of responsibility so they can train and be able to handle the job on their own.

  What happened to your brother is a fact of life in any sphere of the human experience. We are born, we mature, we age into decrepitude, we die. We should accept this cycle and happily train and pass the responsibility to the younger ones. Your brother has a selfish, rather narrow-minded view of his role in the big picture.

  Sister attendants not able to give directions to a brother..Misogyny

  at our recent rc i was advised by a sister who was an attendant that they have been advised not to be able to give brothers directions as this should be dealt with by the brothers.

  apparently at the pre-convention attendants meeting, the sisters were asked to stay behind.

  this was when they were given the news that the brothers should deal with brothers.

  The way things are going, 50 years from now you are going to have two male elders and 90 female publishers. Then, female attendants will have no problem giving instructions, because the entire audience will be female anyways.

  in 2014 the ratio was 6.5 to 3.5. Big drop in just seven years (according to Pew research)

  I just made some numbers, based on the Pew numbers and the JWFacts publisher statistics, and the net increase between 2007 and 2014 has been about a million women and about a meager 100K men. The problems of this medieval times religion are becoming more obvious.

  I am going to have to ask my son to take a count of my wife's congregation to see if the Pew's numbers are represented there.

  i knew apostasy was a serious concern for the org, but until i watched this video, i had no idea how afraid they actually were.

  all this guy wants is to do is not turn in his fs hours and immediately they (elders) set about drilling him about who are what influenced his decision, as if he was incapable of making his own (which as the elders confirm, in the org is highly discouraged).

  they are convinced he has been communicating with apostates or visiting apostate web sites.
